Journalism Students from Bulacan State University and La Consolacion University of the Phillipines along with the representatives from local media expressed their sympathy and went on how justice is still not being served to those who were killed after 5 long years.
Malolos Mayor Christian Natividad also gave a short message as to how the justice system in our country works and why does the criminals that commit small crimes couldn’t get away easily while those who do bigger crimes like the infamous massacre still aren’t caught.
He also stated that our country is the second most dangerous place in the world for Journalists, right next to Iraq.
“Bigyan na natin ng tuldok ‘yung naging kasalanan ng mga gumawa dun sa Maguindanao Massacre. Napaka tagal na nito.” the Mayor said.
His suggestion to put an end to this case, being a lawyer himself, is to create a Special Court that would focus only on the said case.
After the Mayor’s message, the students and media men said a prayer for the victims following a candle lighting ceremony that was also done simultaneously throughout the country in line with the 1 million candle campaign on the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines.
