Since the tragedy in 1993 that killed almost 300 people, the Pagoda Festival has been brought to a stop.
In a statement with Baby Cando, Vice Chairman of SPPC Bambang Dulo, the reason for bringing back the tradition was that Father Joey, the present Kura Paroko, wants to revive the faith of the people of Bocaue in the Holy Cross of Wawa.
In preparation for this year’s festival, they started the inauguration before the 9-day celebration.
In terms of safety, Apol Pancho, Congressman of the 2nd District of Bulacan, assured the public that this year’s Pagoda is safe and safety measures such as limiting the number of people that will board the Pagoda to 200-250 persons only in spite of its maximum limit of 500-600 person and deploying more rescue teams, should an incident occur will be implemented.
The Novenario will start on June 27 and ends on July 5, and the festival proper will start on July 6.
