Seasoned bands from Bulacan opened for the main performer of the night, Lolita Carbon from the band Asin. Citrus Blend took the stage first playing some renditions of several pop songs followed by the hard rock band Deuterium headed by Rommel Ramos, a news stringer of GMA 7.
The official program was started afterwards with Art Dela Cruz, the president of Bulakenyong Nagmamalasakit, explaining what the organization is all about and their goals and vision which is all about “pagmamalasakitan (concern).” He also said that the reason they kicked off their organization through a concert is because they thought that it would leave a mark to everyone especially the youth which is one of their main concern.
It was followed by a message given by the former Governor of Bulacan and Chairman of the organization, Obet Pagdanganan. He inspired the youth and everyone to continue supporting each other and the province of Bulacan.
“Nasa ating mga kamay ngayon upang ipagpatuloy ang pagmamalasakitan para sa ating dakilang bayan. Mabuhay ang Bulakenyo!”, Pagdanganan said as he closed his message.
The parents of the students who died in the Madlum Tragedy last August were given recognition afterwards and also for the late Dino Balabo, whose wife and daughter was present for the receiving of the recognition. Along with them is Bro. Martin Francisco who got recognized as an environmentalist and a researcher of the ethnic group in Bulacan, the Dumagats.
Wild cheers from the students are heard when the pride of Bulacan, Roots of Nature, performed. They played a variety of their original compositions and some cover songs.
Lolita Carbon from Asin, the main event of the night, took the stage afterwards and gave a crowd a one huge throwback with their country-folk style music which made the middle aged adults and young at heart and some students sing along.
After Lolita’s heart warming set and the night comes to a close, the organizers reassured everyone that it is not where the advocacy of Bulakenyong Nagmamalasakit ends and to expect more events and advocacy programs that would involve the citizens of Bulacan.
